Will there be an option to pay more for reward on completed tasks? I realize this could be seen as similar to bounties but there are many other distinguishing features.

15,000 for a voodoo curse is quite low in most cases given the cost of cards.

Also, if a person accepts a Letter of Marque from a nation to be executed against an enemy of that nation, would the person executing the letter of marque gain hostility against the nation of the target?

Example: PFH accepts LoM from Bermuda to be executed against Banger. Does PFH then gain hostility towards the UK?

The coin rewards included are insignificant in purpose. They are only there to cover basic costs and if you notice, most of the coin is lost on letter creation (we could give it to the letter recipient but this is no in the design). If someone in fact wants to use gold coins and compensate in coins, he could use Bounties. Or also use bounties. The systems can work together after all.

Honor points can be the opposite of Hostility points in many ways. If Hostility points is the only way of a judging system within a nation, then Honor points will surely compel it. While it is still early on, this is what Letter of the Marque is all about; to reward you with Honor points.

As we come up with more uses for Honor points later, this reward will become significantly more important.

Letters of Marque were granted to legalize attacks against a nations enemies up to and including pirates. Pirates were not granted Letters of Marque unless they agreed to fly the nations flag, cause no harm to said nation, and agree to specific terms, thus making them "Privateers" of the nation.

Pirates did not benefit. We have bounties for pirates to pursue, or they can join a nation and agree to all the terms set forth to properly receive a letter.

Are you suggesting then, that a pirate would have to "join" a nation through standard mission first. Or would accepting this "Letter" automatically make him a Citizen of said country?

How about a Split Flag allowing either pirate or other national to accept the Letter. Once the "Letter of Marque" has been "fulfilled" then that nation flag drops and you become pirate or your nation flag once more???

I like this idea. I would love to be able to receive LoM from other countries and assist them in pursuit of their target but I do not want to relinquish my membership of the UK in order to do so. I see no reason why I couldn't as a member of the UK receive a letter of marque from the King of IoM, Spain, Bonaire, Kiribati, etc and pursue that target as a privateer.

You can , LoM is not nation specific the king can grant to any player.

although if a player were able to carry more than 1 letter of marquess this would get complicated

We could add the option to every player to demonstrate the Letters of the Marque he currently holds on his public profile.
Every Letter of the Marque could come with the nation flag.

Additionally we could add into the defender events whenever part of their "punishment" is also part of a Letter of the Marque (although this sounds like taking it too far)

That suggestion is more functional than the split flag

perhaps a row of small flags under the influence marker on profile page- for each nation a player is carrying a letter from.
