(Legendary) Pirate's Bay

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

ok so it can be realy beneficial for traders who can time it well. especially who knows rivals travel time to that port. and can ruin their potato party and make his/her own banana party.

I get your point just im saying during card active buy and load in warehouse wait for it expires. even you pause your traders still it will be beneficial with that prize discount. bbut it will hit a lot hardfor offline traders.

this is safest way to cast HN on your enemy trader. and dont worry about mindbar or your identification's reveal.

I disagree with DoS. I don't think it is overpowered - if the price is right. Meaning sky high. This is a bit similar to may suggestion "Pirates' Bay", which essentially gave danger to anyone ENTERING a specific port.

Yes, it effects many, but it doesn't affect any particular player more than 2 HN cards would. Yet, the price needs to be high due to the number of players that will be affected.

My suggestion had a longer duration, though (24H), but I required w such cards used for full effect. And I set the price MUCH higher than was done for this one. A legendary card with total voodoo cost less than 100 credits are hardly legendary :-)

DoS wrote:Interesting card for sure. But I do think that any voodoo that affects such a large amount of people, and most probably bystanders is too OP, and unfair.

Maybe if it worked like a terrorize where it only attaches to one player it would be a +1 from me.

On a side note. Nice and creative idea on those banana spiders. Seems like you are talking about the Brazilian wandering spider. Quite the menacing bite.

I gave it a very short duration due to its mass effect, also the reason for the market notification , however most that auto load would not see that.

if this was changed to player specific, I would dramatically increase the duration and possibly remove the stack over an existing west.

It is fine if the duration is increased, seeing this card is more like a "hah you weren't watching" card.

I just think the card would be abused by people just trying to cause trouble, and would be a disturbance to others who did nothing to anger the caster.

Kinda like making everyone pay for one person's doings.

Actually, I think this would make a splendid natural disaster, instead of a voodoo card.

"The port of Chalkos has been overrun with Spiders! The price has dropped half, but stories of these menacing spiders have plagued the seas!"

I gave it a fairly long creation time to limit people from casting them often.
I am assuming the cost for creation of this card will be the opportunity cost that will be lost on time you could create other cards, and hope that will be limitation enough.

not much different than other port action cards that usually affect members of a nation weather they did anything to deserve it or not.

I think you are a referring to Conspiracy. And that card was most likely created as a counter to countries who set up their influence in ports like Bermuda does.

Though, a very smart idea they got going on there.

that is a good example, however only one of many possible senarios, but yes.

a Bermudan attacks me, so I wish to hurt them.
I am a coward and don't want them to know that I am actually hitting back, I just want them to suffer.
So I cast a bunch of conspiracy on a port where they hold a decent amount of influence.
any Bermudan with influence in that port is hurt by this action.

This brings up an interesting argument as to if mass affect cards should be avoided or not.
I think it deserves its own discussion.

I tend to believe the point of the Conspiracy card is to debuff the setup of having 10+ people unload only 3mil influence in a port and then take it.. Not this scenario.

Sure it can be used this way.

But you can describe about any voodoo card in a bad light. That does not make it bad, just using scenarios to put its purpose out of view.

I want everyone to re-read Captain Jacks origanal post on Witch Hut before they mention or think a card is to O.P.
Captain Jack wrote:Voodoo that will be so powerful that they will be regarded as weapons of mass destruction or total defense (or even vengeance).

I have made this mistake in the past but these are his words. As of right now we need to think of very powerful cards. They will be super rare and in a lot of cases 1 offs.

Keep in mind the limited amount of players who will build up a high lvl hut. Keep in mind the cost of such investment. Keep in mind also, that currently you have to BUY the recipes that you UNLOCK when upgrading the hut. And then keep in mind the cost of VOODOO, RESOURCES, and TIME researching LEGENDARY VOODOO.

This process will not be cheap and as previously stated these cards will be very rare. For this purpose (and under the current proposed guidelines) we need to start thinking in OP ways or it simply won't be worth the investment.. Just my two cents
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!
