Plundered During Travel

One of my fleets was traveling between Tzogos and Aiora. The fleet had a danger level of 3 and was still about 14 minutes from reaching Aiora (per travel time), when I was plundered in Aiora. You can't plunder unless you are in the port, so why can you be plundering if your fleet isn't in the port? (I could understand if the fleet was close to the port)


Edit: I've been told that this is normal, but this seems completely illogical. How can a fleet that has to be in the port to attack, attack a fleet that isn't in the port? As I said above, I could understand within a certain distance/time from the port but outside of that there should be an alternate method to attack those fleets.

-How targets are selected ?

Enemy Fleets must:
Be in the vicinity of the port (either docked at the port, or travelling towards/from it).
Have a danger rating of 3 or more.

Yeah, I get that. Still illogical.

Edit- Thinking about this. I have a suggestion that would alleviate this illogical situation. I'll post it later under suggestions, unless Captain Jack wants to move the this thread and I'll edit my original post.

yerp I copped an attack 20 mins after leaving port and maybe the system isn't on the pulse at any given time cause in missions for country I attack to get loilalty points and they an't added straight away it takes the system to acknowlage points won afew days so there is a delay in timing I just put up with it and am glad that I've never put real money into gaming

It makes logical sense.

If you know the port a ship has sailed from you can follow it and intercept it, if you know were the ship is heading you can sail out to meet it. In one case you have to be in the port it left from and in the other you have to be in the port it is travelling to.

I have never noticed a delay in having nation mission points added, i've always found it instant.I managed to rank all the way up in around 4 hours before so there can't be a delay of a few days. If you have noticed such a delay then get the details and contact admin regarding it.

If you dont continue the mission, but accidentally re-start the mission you go back to beginning again and lose any points gained : this has happened to folk. There is also a time limit to complete the mission which, if exceeded, will end the current mission and lose the points already gained

No it isn't logical. How would someone know what port you were heading to during that time period? They didn't have instant communication during the time period. Also If you chase after a fleet, you technically leave port, so you can plunder a fleet that is for instance 40 mins into a 1 hour route from the originating port and you travel after it from the originating port and back instantaneously? That isn't logical.

Logically, plundering should occur for any fleet with a danger rating above 3 that is physically in or within x distance/time of the port. If the fleet is outside of x distance/time a plundering ahouls only occur from the originating port of travel with the attacking fleet (if victorious) set to take x time to return to port before plundering again. That would be logical and more realistic.

Not everything in the game has to make logical sense. If you want to have an argument about that, start with voodoo. Could people actually cast voodoo magic on someone back then? No. There are some things that, in order for a game to function properly and actually be fun, can't be totally realistic or historically accurate.

Improve your fleets so they cannot lose; an easy fix and efficient solution. Not everything has to make logical sense, it just has to make the core mechanics and function of the game work!

I agree with Astor and Chaulbad: It's game mechanics that makes the game "function" that is important, not that it relates to "real life" in the pirating days.

That said, Deznuts: Where do you think ships were most prone to be plundered: In a port, or in the open sea, travelling between ports?
