They were applied in past drafts.... or does that not matter? Was that a mistake?

If you want this to be allowed then there is no reason someone could not create hundreds of accounts for voting in draft only. After all.... as you said it is only a forum game.

1.Multiplay is forbidden
Only one account per real person is allowed. Players using the same network must be extra careful of rule #5. It is better to contact us a priori in case of network sharing

That would bring another rule in play.

The person responsible for trying to pay for votes admitted, apologized, no votes were purchased and has offered to not receive the award from cj for the draft.

Is this not consistent with past drafts where some were caught?

In this topic, Feniks has attacked no one - he is simply making a case for the rules. This attention to the rules has come about because of the draft, be it the reason for this thread, as he has stated before.

The multi-acount rule has been brought up several times, yet I have not heard of any multi-play activities pertaining to this last draft - if there were, they should be reported directly to admin, and not discussed in forums - as per admin's procedure. As history shows, it will be dealt with.

As for bribes and attempted bribes, they have been a part of the draft in jest and in reality. One draft it was quite blatant. Since then, it has been frowned upon and considered low brow as it cheapened the victory, tarnishing the recognition efforts of the teams(not because it was milking/pushing). If admin dealt with it in the past, I do not know. I do not recall any rule concerning bribes, and as prevalent as the subject was, I suspect we would have seen one. I do know all awards were given as the vote results indicated.

The Fantasy Draft is the most successful and popular forum event in Pirates Glory, and I hate seeing it darkened and cheapened by bickering and screaming, (or by a rampage of bribes for that matter). I prefer the good natured jabs and clever campaigns to win the vote.

It should be a time to recognize an honor the outstanding players in the game, not about winning or losing a popularity vote, bribes or no. That vote should be a fun secondary benefit as it extends the time to revel in the celebration of our players.

As for rules, they first must recognized as a violation before they are applied. If bribes and attempted bribes are considered milking/pushing, are donations allocated to top or bottom teams, or rookies?

That said, I await comment by CJ/admin.

Let's sum up in statements, for easier consumption from everyone.
  • Fantasy Draft is a community organized event. Administration tries to stay out of it as much as possible.
  • The final voting in my eyes is moving towards a popularity contest. Therefore the final results on the winning team perhaps should stop being recorded ingame. We will still record all picks. I have not reached a final decision for this draft and I will revise this per draft basis.
  • I do not have an issue with the draft prizes. Neither the game rules are concerned. These are publicly approved deals, why administration should bother?
  • Any tainting that happens because of the prizes is a concern, mostly for those donating the prizes. Perhaps you should contain it/make it more specific?
  • Continuing on game rules, pulling a newcomer up is never an issue. Even if this newcomer shares an internet connection with you. Milking/Pushing is. Even if the other player is someone you never spoke to.
  • Rigging votes is immoral as it spoils the spirit of healthy competition.
  • It is not against the rules because administration cannot control really control this. If it is an actual bribe for votes, we could find what has been sent. However, buddies can help in such cases without need of a reward and this is impossible to catch. The tainting is still there though.
  • Therefore, there can be no control for a fair vote. You can however change the procedure. For example, you can have the 5 Captains and a hidden committee that rates. I would be happy to participate in this committee everytime. Both comittee members and their ratings will become public with the announcement of the results while committee members will not be able to rate their own team.
  • Regarding multi accounts. The game has a few players that currently use multi accounts. These are few. We speak of less than 5-6 multi accounts right now who are under constant monitoring - fair play is ensured. I have banned quite many such cases so far and the penalty for this is a permanent ban. If you are reading this and you have a second account, do not wait for the permanent ban to all your accounts. You can either message me or never log in to your 2nd account. I strongly suggest that you choose to contact me though.
  • Regarding fairplay from multi accounts. Some may ask why I do not hand out the bans NOW rather than wait. The answer is that administrating a game is a rather complicated procedure. I would rather not answer why. As I already wrote, fair play is ensured, at all times. Players need to have an element of trust towards administration. To help you accept this, I will state my resume:
Been playing similar games for over 23 years now. I have been managing communities like this for over 20 years. I have been creating and running games like this for over 13 years. PG Alone is 12 years old and I have created/managed several games, some bigger than PG.
  • PG is a commercial project. It might not be a big project that creates any considerable incomes, however its online existence is due to being able to make an income and pay for its costs. This acts as an addon guarantee that no player will ever come over the game.
  • No rules for something that we cannot control fully
  • Reliance on community members for rules keeping
  • Reliance on community members for clean play. If you do not play fair, if you do not ask your friends to play fairly, then the best rules and administration will not live up to your expectations.

Hopefully I caught it all. If not, please post questions.

I am not an ADMIN and cannot speak to In Game Rules and Violations.. But I am the creator of the Fantasy Draft and can speak to the rules/guidelines of it.

Currently there really isn't any rules... :xx

The Draft was created to have fun, to shine a light on the Best of the Best in Avonmora. I didn't even intend nor dream that it would take in and payout over a BILLION gold coin and other prizes when I first started it. But the generosity of the players in this game lead it to being a huge payout for teams selected. Personally I think this added to the uniqueness of the Draft. In the beginning some younger players strived to play more, get recogzided, just so they would be drafted. Some older players valued in what place they actually were drafted, they too played harder.

Fantasy Draft II:Captain DaVinci
CDV added a element to the draft that I didn't except and didn't know how to respond to. He offered to Pay For Votes. There was no rule saying he couldn't and I don't believe he had any ill intentions. For anyone that knows CDV, he is a pretty good guy and one of the "greats" in the game. But it did raise the issue that this should not be allowed. Players wanted a fair vote and a fair out come.

Fantasy Draft III: Maybe the first RULE?
After the CDV win several were upset. When it was time to vote for the winners of FDIII I added this text to the voting thread.
"Again, I can't stop anyone from doing as they please (it is a pirate game after all), just a simple request to keep the voting fair. No bribes, threats or purchasing of votes... Please."
This was not a rule, this was not enforced by me, but I don't believe there was any "bribes" during this draft. Players were respectful and it was fair.

I don't recall any "bribes" in Draft 3-6 honestly. I think the small uprising that CDV caused and my little remainder at the start of each voting thread was enough. Until now.

What I can do is put in place a few rules for any/all future drafts that I will be in charge of (or if I die and someone else picks up the helm again, they will police). I don't have these rules yet, but I will. Potentially it could include, non-payment to rule breaker and/or forfeiture of team rank. I will think on these and discuss with ADMIN and players.

I really love the draft guys. Over the years I put a lot of time and effort into. It excites me and I set aside as much personal time as I can when the draft is happening. I will do my best to bring it back and make it fair... but I need every player here to help me make it fair too. I need your participation as well as your honesty.

Thats all i got for now. More to come from me on the future of the draft soon.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

Believe me, I've rained messages on admin the last few days and have yet to have a response, but I am not worried; admin will eventually get around to addressing my messages and this issue.

I've been busy with a new work shift and the forums aren't too entertaining lately so I missed the whole draft this time but I reread everything and I'm trying to keep up
