Best/Favorite President.

So since I'm a wee bit bored and feel like talking about past presidents, figured I'd ask the community who they think was the best US president, or if they prefer who their favorite president was.

For me, I think my favorite president would be either Teddy Roosevelt, with Lincoln, Washington and Reagan being up there.

I really liked Teddy's character, how he overcame his health issues, and how he took a bullet and still gave a speech. Truly he was the manliest president we ever had .

Who I think did the best job as president, is a bit harder. I would say George Washington did the best job, as he helped found the nation, and had the wisdom to warn against political parties, just wish we'd had listened.

Probably Kennedy. The earlier ones are iffy. I do like most of Teddy's doings, but there was some pretty horrible stuff that he did to indigenous people.

Everyone says Lincoln and I think he is given too much credit. He freed the slaves, but it's not like he was some moral hero. He wasn't even for ending slavery until it was required to win the war.

I'm not even gonna talk about Reagan.

The thing is, I think most of our presidents have been bad. In order to do the job correctly, you usually have to give up some morals and do some horrible things. And every single president that we have had has been responsible for thousands of deaths each, excluding maybe the first three presidents.

Nicolas Sarkozy wasn't that bad. Martti Ahtisaari has to be a candidate, of course. I heard some good things about Vigdís Finnbogadóttir as well.

The US cannot even start to compete with Norway when it comes to politics.

While I strongly prefer the Norwegian system myself (while admitting that it is not perfect), we do not have presidents, so there were no Norwegian presidents for me to name.

Agreed. I wish that the US would use the Norwegian system. It's so much more fair for everyone.
