A German submarine was on his enemy-mission in the Atlantic Sea in the II World War. A US submarine-hunter-destroyership had detected this submarine by her echo-lot and threw waterbombs to the detected position of the sub. One of these bombs hited the German submarine in a deep of nearly 100m. The steelhull of the sub was lightly damaged by the bombing.
" Herr Kapitaenleutnant( that was the title of a German submarine-commander) we were hited by an enemy-bomb," the first officer reported to his commander, "what shall we do now. What are your orders?" " I also recogniced this fatal happenings against us," the captain answered his officer, "oure boat waved up and down, and I also heard the loud sound of the explosion. But we are still in a good shape for manoevering as I had sawn on the aparates on my commando-place. It is not possible to move faster for oure submarine, that the enemy could not hit us? " "That is not possible," the first officer answered, "we cannot dive faster by oure electric-motor and to move up the snork for provideing oure diesel-motor with oxygen from the surface is also not possible, we are diveing to deep." "Then my order, maybe the last order, is, "the German captain commanded, "take some dieseloil out of the tank and pour it into oure torpedo-tubes and let it flew out. The oil will drift to the surface and the enemy will believe that we and oure sub were destroyed." His first officer gave that order further to the submarine-crew and the order was executed. Then the echolot-officer on the sub reported to the captain that the motor-noice of the enemy-ship was never to hear. The US submarine hunter had apparently vesseled away. The German submarine moved to the French coast, where a large submarine-harbour was situated. There the sub was repaired for a new mission.
