so i have this grammar assignment due in a few days in which we have to write either a song or a poem and underline the nouns and say if the noun was a proper or a common and i chose this one

Poor old lady, she swallowed a fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed a fly.
Poor old lady, I think she’ll die.
Poor old lady, she swallowed a spider.
It squirmed and wriggled and turned inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed a fly.
Poor old lady, I think she’ll die.
Poor old lady, she swallowed a bird.
How absurd! She swallowed a bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don’t know why she swallowed a fly.
Poor old lady, I think she’ll die.
Poor old lady, she swallowed a cat.
Think of that! She swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don’t know why she swallowed a fly.
Poor old lady, I think she’ll die.

------------------------------------------------------
can someone please point out the nouns in the poem and if they are proper or common i wrote some but i am not sure so any help here would be great

As far as i know there are no proper nouns in this poem
A proper noun would have to be the name of a person, place, institution, etc. such as Tom, Dave, Mohammed, Mrs Jones, Rome, Texas, The Rhine, The White House.
The common nouns are the words like lady, fly, spider, bird, cat. That refer to an object or a thing but are not the name of a particular person, place or thing.
Abstract nouns are words like goodness or freedom, that refer to an idea or general quality, not a physical object.

Try this one, its the theme song from a cartoon on the Disney channel,
proper noun=(pn) common noun=(cn)

Phineas and Ferb------------------ Phineas(pn) Ferb(pn)
There's 104 days of summer vacation ------------------------- days(cn) summer vacation(cn)
but school comes along just to end it --------------------- school(cn)
so the annual problem for our generation --------------------- problem(cn) generation (cn)
is finding a good way to spend it -------------------------

Like maybe.....----------------------
building a rocket ------------------ rocket(cn)
or fighting a mummy ------------------ mummy(cn)
or climbing up the Eiffel Tower -------------------- Eiffel Tower(pn)

Discovering something that doesn't exist -------------------
or giving a monkey a shower -------------------- monkey(cn) shower(cn)

Surfing tidal waves ---------------- tidal waves(cn)
creating nanobots --------------- nanobots(cn)
or locating Frankenstein's brain -------------- Frankenstein(pn) brain(cn)

Finding a dodo bird ------------- dodo bird(cn)
painting a continent ----------------- continent(cn)
or driving your sister insane --------------- sister(cn)

As you can see ---------------
there's a whole lot of stuff to do -------------- stuff(cn)
before school starts this fall -------------- school(cn) fall(cn) (fall is american, in English we say autumn.)

So stick with us 'cause Phineas and Ferb ----------- Phineas(pn) Ferb(pn)
are gonna do it all. -------------
So stick with us 'cause Phineas and Ferb -------------
are gonna do it all. ------------

Remember that a proper noun should always have a capital letter.

In the first song, "I" would be a proper noun. And remember, regular nouns are people, places, or things. For example, in the first line "lady" and "fly" would be nouns.

In that context "I" is used as a pronoun not a proper noun.

Proper Noun = there is only one of the thing of that kind that exist, like, The Sun, The Moon.

Common Noun = one thing that can be used by many, like because the world have more than just one mother.

As in, her name is Elisa(PN), she is your mother(CN).

I think, I am not sure, English is not my prime language from where I am from.

PN underlined in bold.

There was a young girl from Cape Cod,
Who thought babies came only from God.
T'wasn't the Almighty
Who lifted her nightie.
T'was Roger the Lodger by god!
