And no way in hell are Minnesotans gonna let nuclear waste get dumped in our lakes. Why don't we just dump in all in Dez's closet? It will just make his clothes look more radiant

Thorium reactors?
Thorium can not stand alone, and you can therefore use some of the uran and plutonium dump from old reactors, mix with the thorium.
This way, you can recycle the fuel, you do not use. Today, many reactors only use 1% of the uranium efficiently anyway.
That's one way to get the decay time down?
