Blue, how about naming some of these issues you seem to think are there. I'm quite confident any issues you bring up, can easily be refuted. The system is not biased, if it was, then Obama should never have become a president, you know, the highest position in the entire executive branch. If it is biased, then it certainly is doing a crappy job of oppressing minorities.

Edit- also are you aware that when you say that people should recognize eachother as different but equal, that is alarmingly similar to what was said about segregation. Seperate but Equal. When it comes down to it, everyone bleeds red, everyone has biases, and everyone has good and bad things about them. Color only affects how your skin reacts to the sun, and how oily your skin and hair may be. It doesn't change what you are ultimately. A human.

I'm progressive and am getting kinda annoyed with the democratic party for choosing Hillary and now Joe. Joe's a moron. We can agree on that I hope. This issue is pretty straightforward. White people are scared of differences so either try to deny that they exist or act aggressively in the case of cops. Simple, right? So all the sudden there are these conspiracy theories saying that the dems put it in place to overthrow republicans or some bs. Really all it is is that minorities are being oppressed and they want change. And there are people like you who are willing to do everything about racism exept what they are asked to do. Ex: Nancy Pelosi wearing a culturally-appropriated African scarf, canceling of cop TV shows, putting up MLK statues and tearing down confederate monuments (all of these are good besides the Pelosi thing which is obnoxious, but isn't what is being called for)

Meliva, there's a difference between systemic and systematic. The system may be racist and biased, it's not my place to say. Also note the many many white presidents before Obama. His election is not and never will be proof that the system isn't biased. He's just one person.

Chances of enrolling in an ivy-league college
Chances of getting a high paying job at a private company
Chances of getting killed by the authorities
Chances of getting stopped by the authorities
Average income
Chances of becoming governer, president, etc because campaigns cost money and minorities have less of that
Etc, etc, etc.

2-do you have any evidence that they were not given high paying jobs because they were people of color? Or was it because someone else was more qualified?
3-More white people are shot by the police then black. Also, the number one cause of death for young black men, is other young black men.
4-I'll concede to that one, as I have no knowledge to refute that at this moment.
5-do you have evidence that their income is lower on average because of discrimination, or because of other factors. Women make on average 87 cents on the dollar to men, but this is due to other factors not that they are women.
6-If the thing keeping them from those positions is money, then that by defination means it isn't biased to them because of their skin color. It means it's biased because others are richer. Also, you can still get those positions even if you lack money, likewise having money doesn't get you those positions just by throwing it around. Why is evidence needed? Isn't the cry of the oppressed people enough to convince you? Others are richer because of the color of their skin. Generational wealth passed on from when slavery still existed in the US, and therefor because they were white. Think about the big picture.

mate, evidence is needed because without it, what's the point in making any claim at all? I won't just blindly believe in something just because someone tells me about it, that's completely idiotic.

The ratio of violent crimes commited by blacks are also far higher despite their relatively low population. So it makes sense why they get shot more often statistically.

Also, the majority of the population did not own slaves mate. Only about 5% did in the slave holding states. Hell, my ancestors were indentured servants, and the only thing they had going for them was that when they ran off to Texas to leave their debts behind, folks just assumed they were new migrants rather then runaway servants.

Frankly, the numbers simply do not agree with your points. The system isn't unfairly biased against minorities. Until you provide evidence proving otherwise, I won't blindly believe your claims. As I said before, blindly believing something someone says is just plain stupid.

Edit-also, remember, the burden of proof lies on whoever makes a claim. You made the claim that the system is biased against minorities, so it lies on you to provide the proof and evidence.

Im not saying the system is not biased, i can give more examples for than against. but the people who started this movement are using it a tool to hide the fact that they put it there and in my opinion are trying to keep it there.

Republicans should have continued their fight for civil rights instead of becoming complacent.

I live in a semi rural area at the edge of richmond virginia.
I live in a mixed neighborhood, in the houses next to mine across the street, and on far side of my back yard
I have black neighbors, hispanic neighbors middle eastern neighbors and 3 familys of white neighbors.
White is the however the majority in the neighborhood.
The children dont seem to know the differences that are appearently so important and neither does my family.
No one is born racist.

I guess we are racist for not realizing they are not the same as us.
