Why not use prison labor for a whole host of things? They broke the law, violated other peoples rights, costs (x) amount of money, took lives and so on... when did going to prison become 3 hots and a cot, cable TV and ern a college degree for free? Work them! I know this may fall counter to somes feelings, but if you make prison a place were people DONT want to go, maybe they will try a little harder not to.

I think a community project where maybe kids could work every saturday or sunday at some sort of safe job would be a pretty good idea honestly. With guardian permission and supervision of course. Could be very educational, give some real world experience etc. Could also give kids their first paycheck, and a little spending money. They should also get the same wages an adult would get for the work they do. I definitely don't support using them as cheap labor. Just like I don't support folks using disabled folks as cheap labor. Sadly they do it anyway.

Really vile when folks take advantage of other's especially children and disabled folks just to save some profit. Hopefully as society advances these things go away.

Yeah, I never denied that the climate changes. I'm just a bit of a pessimist and think it ultimately doesn't matter. The earth isn't going to be a habitable planet forever no matter what we do. eventually the sun will expand and our oceans will boil, though I believe we would already all be dead long before that point due to other factors.

That being said, for those who do want to prolong humanity for as long as they can, and keep the earth in good shape, more power to you. I have no kids, and no desire to have kids, and not much family-what few I got I rarely talk to so, ultimately, when I die, I won't be needing to worry about any relatives who will be suffering in the far future. I understand folks with kids have a pretty good reason to worry about the state of the earth and other factors after they pass.

Also I think it was Draque who says the climate is changing all the time, and honestly, he's right. Now I do agree that humanity has an influence on that change, but I certainly don't believe that humanity will "ruin" or end the world or wipe out all life with our decisions or anything like that. We may certainly make it to where we wipe ourselves and a lot of life out, but extremophiles and other hardy life forms will survive, hell some of those suckers can live in insane conditions. I think I heard about some extremophiles living in a LITERAL nuclear reactor. Some can be on the outside of a space shuttle, ride it to space, and still be around when it comes back.

Nothing we do will be wiping out some of those suckers, least not with modern tech-even nukes. And I thought roaches were hardy

Kim, for the last time not one person here has said that climate change doesnt exist, the only question is how much humans are actually playing a part and how much we are playing a part and we aren't gullible enough to spend $30 on a book to tell us all the trees will be gone in 30 years.

So just answer me one question. According to scientists that have done sampling of the bubbles in Antarctic ice cores, we have about 200% more Co2 in the atmosphere than we did during the last interglacial period, and if that is the big bad wolf here, then why are we still 3 degree C cooler than the last interglacial?

Yes, correct answer is IDK. So the issue that that most of us are having is that with levels of Co2 at about 480 ppm we are still colder than last time earth went through this, then maybe Co2 isnt as big a part in the cycle and more an effect of the cycle (normally) but one that humans added to.

If that be the case, then that means that there is something else controlling the temp on the planet and it aint us. That doesnt mean we havent added to it, it just means we have no control over it... and that scares some people, plus the government wont pay for a paper that says "yep its happening, but nothing we can do"
