NK has nuclear weapons', sure but those are rated in the kilotons and has claimed to have achieved thermo-nuclear weapons' with one test but the jury is out on that one. Hydrogen or thermo-nuclear weapons are measured in megatons, thats what we got.

N. Korea would never even think of launching at us because they may actually get one to make it all the way to LA (i call that a good start... heeeeeyyyooooo) jk, but we would turn every inch of his country into a glass parking lot.

So, actually, a nuclear response to an attack on mainland US is not as simple as you claim.

That's the elephant in the room in the tactical nuclear weapons debate... you can keep the 'bang' inside your targets borders but the shyte goes where it will, borders or no.

Strategic nukes only worked if both sides could obliterate the other. Mutually Assured Destruction can ignore fall-out and 'collateral damage' as nobody much is around after to biatch about it.

The other fallacy is assuming NK, or any other nuclear actor, requires ICBM's to deliver a payload. That is a nonsense. The US developed a man-portable warhead long ago. They developed a nuke artillery shell. Modern warheads can fit into suitcases and leave space for your clothes and Last Will and Testament. Warhead firing mechanisms are complex because the owners have to ensure they only go bang when the Big Guy presses the shiny button and not because some-one dropped a spanner on it. That is not a constraint that need apply to the insane.

They dont need accurate targetting systems, they dont even need to be that sophisticated. Just well made enough to go 'bang!' when the trigger is pulled.

Nukes are perfect for asymetric warfare. The US could have 10k which they can land on a dime anywhere on the globe. But one small dirty bomb set off a mile from downtown in any US city will make responding to Covid look like a minor outbreak of nits in a kindergarten.

So, great rhetoric, crappy idea to implement it.

Ha..I think it was Carl Sagan who predicted there could be numerous planets that is capable of harbouring intelligent life how ever the chance they made it through the self extinction phase of their development such as we are currently in, was about 10%.
His synopsis was, yes, there is intelligent life out there but ones capable of interstellar travel is not very plentiful .
Just one guys theory and certainly not fact but its worth pondering for a few minutes.

I believe the major obstacle to meeting another civilisation is pure timing. Humanity has not been around that long. Its probably the same elsewhere.

So to have both civilisations around at the same time is maybe unlikely. That one would have to have reached a level of advancement to make the journey to the other possible adds another layer of unlikelihood. Even arriving a few thousand years after that ither civilisation has failed might as well be like never knowing they were there at all.

Humanities entire known history is measured in a few thousands of years. We see remnants of civilisations from just two thousand years ago and they might as well be aliens to us.

Mack stop saying stupid things like that which don't contribute to anything at all. Anyway China will be at the US level of technological advancement in the next 10-20 years. It already has more personnel than you guys in terms of active personnel. It is launching more warships than you guys at I think it was for every one US ship 3 were being launched and it's air fleet is getting better

Im just saying, looking back through my mental rolodex of different conversations, it kinda reads like an infomercial for how great china will be soon compared to the rest, plus we should all learn Chinese, there military will surpass the US soon.

They also have a lot of outdated equipment and tech, and don't spend as much as we do on their military. Having a crap ton more soldiers is useful, but when a lot of them have hand-me-down equipment decades old, and inferior training, that greatly makes them a lot less useful.

That massive army of theirs is impossible to keep equipped with modern top of the line equipment. Even if they did spend the money needed to do that, a decade or 2 later and they are back to being equipped with outdated weapons and armor.

They still trail behind us in tech. Just because they are advancing doesn't mean we aren't as well.

Also, are all those warships they launching top of the line with tech and equipment? We also already HAVE a pretty massive navy-and at the moment not really using it. So why would we be launching more ships when we currently have no need for them? China is launching a bunch of ships because they could use a bigger fleet. Especially if they want to compete with the US.

Now I by no means think the US military is unbeatable, but I do think we have the best military overall at the moment. Russia would probably be 2nd, and China would be in the top 5 I would guess. Though I don't know how capable a lot of other European countries are, to be fair.

Edit-also I would say that we have a lot more allies then them. Just in their area alone we have Australia, Japan, South Korea, while the only ally of theirs would be Russia-now whether or not which allies would or would not help would probably depend on some factors, IE-who attacked who first, being a major one.

No I'm not 12 I don't really support China I support groups that don't like the chinese communist party but what I am saying is facts Mandarin is one of the fastest growing languages and in a lot of Primary schools and high schools in Australia Chinese or mandarin is what we are learning. Mack's random Trump 2020 bullshit is really annoying and has nothing to contribute to anything we are talking about here. If it actually contributed something meaningful by all means trump 2020 yay but it doesn't. China's military is also growing rapidly much faster than other countries. I feel like I would be actually anti CCP but not anti China.
