I had spent a great deal of time recently trying to climb the ranks in Tokelau. After a good while I became a Duke!! Life was great for about ONE DAY!
I wanted to know the stats of all ships. HPs per LvL, cost to upgrade per LvL, etc. So I started out with a Howker LVL 1. Found an NPC to attack and started work on my spreadsheet. Well what I didn't realize was the NPC was of Tokelau decent. My heart sank when I read "you are now a pirate". Couldn't believe I didn't notice the flag of my own country. That one stung. Lol.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

When I first started, I though the 99% next to my ships meant that they had 99% hit points remaining and didn't bother to read that is was 99% damage. So here's little newb me, attacking a bunch of ships not understanding why I'm losing when finally it hits me, 99% damage!

I've had a few messups sending voodoo card presents. I've ended up entering the wrong number, and some random pirate probably wonder why he got voodoo presents from me.

Fortunately, I've not had similar accidents sending messages. That could have had truly disastrous consequenses. Seriously, it should be easier t make sure a message is really sent to the right person. At least I should be able to se the pirates name right after entering the player number, but BEFORE hitting send! Now, I only see it AFTER hitting send. It's only an issue the first time I send messages to a player, though, since at later times I can "reply" to our previous messages.

I learned that EVENTUALLY. But it took some time to figure out the "safe" way to send messages.

I had stalked my prey for weeks : I had figured out their regular on-line times : monitored their fleets : done all the intel work and spotted their weakness : they would let their purse drop over the day and at the key moment, they would be vulnerable ; the day came : I dropped a spy, confirmed where the vulnerable target fleet was, moved my war-fleets into place : all was set : first, I needed to remove a tail with leviathans and then the rich plunder-value ships would be exposed and the purse soon knocked down with ambushes : fire-ships and krackens soon had the enemy fleet reduced in power : time to take out the tail : now, back then, levi's were an expensive option, 18 turns apiece to cast : so one had to guard the turns carefully to make sure you could complete the full hit : I cast..one, two, three... click click click ... and bugger! I had typed in the fleet number instead of the ship number and wiped out some other poor souls cutter... : damn, not enough turns to finish the job... ek! I sent a mail to the unwitting victim but got no reply... blushes all round.

Spends a lot of valuable voodoo trying to get a inactive's gold in hand to 0 just to plunder him, but give up at the end because a guildmate decides to attack him too and lost, giving him 100k.

Wait, I am clearly not sure if this is even a messup.
