I think part of the problem is that certain players are starting to overraid the same players. Combine that with the fact that many of the raiders don't even have anything to hit back on, it really drains the fun.
Eventually, there will be a breaking point when you overraid the same players. They will change their setup to be smaller, more protected, and less profitable to raid. Then you screw over yourself and other raiders. Or even worse, they may give up and leave or just stop with trade ships. That's even worse.
I think a lot of raiders these days don't understand or don't care about the risks of over raiding. Maybe they want the game to crash and burn, maybe they just want to cause some trouble, who knows. But I have noticed a sad trend of folks casting HN"s just to light someone up and not even raid them themself and have next to nothing to hit back on.
HN's are pretty cheap, and while you can counter them by pausing your fleets, that's an entire day of trading wasted. Clearing them is not cost effective, and MB's are certainly not cheap either-plus not exactly hard to cast past a MB with HN"s. Seems to me that some raiders are more out to just block profit rather than actually raid a player.
