Illegal Trade;The Black Market
As the once prosperous port of St.Martin was overrun by a band of pirates many ports have been under constant observation. This,along with the recent widespread attacks on fleets in Avonmora has made authorities even more determine to crack down on the illegal trade markets affecting Avonmora,these determination and cause now strengthen by the recent activities.
According to officials,the "Cross port smuggling rings",that practices illegal trading,are the backbone of the Black Market. A high ranking official,who requested anonymity(coward),stated that,"The Black Market is a breeding ground for pirates and other such criminal elements including professional beggars and forgers to name a few. However,surprisingly,among these lowlifes are our own aristocrats who instill fear into the port locals,making investigations difficult,if not impossible."
Pirates are banned from conducting (certain) business,as a result,they smuggle whatever they have to sell. The locals claim that no such trade happens. The Outlook believes "the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."
• It is rumoured,pirates can hire crew free...without even paying a dime
• There tax is halved because...well its the Black Market
• They get guns,ammo and cannons free
The Black Market and it's activities thrive due to unbalanced and highly fluctuating prices. Warehouse locations,spy reports and merchant trade routes are available and 'made available' there. Goods plundered or stolen by merchant and pirates alike is 'rid of' there.
Black Market activity leaves a dent in many nations economy,it and it's combined ventures haul in some 450-700million bi-annually. Officials are pushing authorities to hurry and extirpate these markets and stop the illicit trade.
