I. Golden Age of Piracy?

Has It Begun?
Piracy has existed among the islands of Avonmora since their discovery more than 4 years ago. Spotty at best, this way of life has served many well for a time. Sooner or later most feel as though they have made enough wealth to begin life as a legitimate merchant and move on to new peaceful ventures. Knowledge to date reveals that pirates have rarely organized and worked together to maintain their life style. The most memorable account would be a time when The Pirate Kings were actively sailing these waters. Since then, organization among thieves has been non-existent, and the thought of pirates maintainin' control of a port was scoffed at, even in those days. TPK once said to me "It's been tried, It can't be done." Now for years this was true, in fact it was attempted less than a handful of times since, all of which failed.
Recently however, on day 1460 to be precise, on the very first day of year 4 pirates claimed the rum port of Akrotiri in a joint effort lead by Charles Vane. The idea was to make the port unappealin' to any other nation that would consider attemptin' to push the pirates out. This was done in an all out port assault with the intentions of either killin', convertin', or pushin' out the ports native population. In less than 48 hours, the pirates had reduced the population from more than 65 Million to a mere 1.5 Million. Will the dauntin' costs associated with stripping the port from the pirates be worth it for any nation? Even if one felt it would, can they afford the investment required afterwards to bring the ports economy back up to a profitable level where they can see a return on their investment; All while pirates continue to assault their progress? It would seem this plan for pirate presence on the map was quite brilliant, but will a flaw be discovered and exposed I wonder?
Barely a week after the pirates take a port, 125 ships are plundered from 5 different players in less than 25 hours! Now many of these plunders are not directly associated with any particular pirate, but is there some connection that remains to be seen? Are the tides changin' in Avonmora? If they are, only those who learn to adapt will prosper. If an age of piracy is upon us, those who cling to old ways may lose everything.
