This letter was written by our director and destined to all of our readers:

First of all, I want to thank you all for reading this and read my newspaper. I think it is really important to have different kinds of news, sometimes a small detail can change an entire text (and I'm a small details lover myself), and with this I mean, we can create anything with our imagination, we can create a world if we wish it so.. what I intend to do with my little project here is actually that. I want to create a world within Avonmora. I want to use all of my imagination to make you crack a smile, however small it may be, it doesn't matter.
I want to thank those who spared their time to write me, to tell me how good something I wrote was and how I could improve or simply because they thought something I wrote was unpleasant.
Now, a little bit about myself. I know this can be quite boring but, it is a special edition, right?
My name is André and I'm from Portugal. Traveled to Avonmora with only a sloop named Stiru's Revenge, which I still own, 6 months ago now. I really enjoy roaming around, making Portugal richer and meeting new and good friend. I have a thing for writing (writing in english is quite hard since it isn't my first language but I can handle it, I guess..). I have notepads full of poems and small sentences I sometimes remember to write down (all in Portuguese, of course)
I also enjoy talking to people, probably as much as I love peace. I'm a peaceful guy who doesn't want to solve things brutally. I try to be fair in everything I do so, if you ever encounter me around Seaglory, you'll find a good and relaxed talker. Well, I said Seaglory because there was where I first married but... I left her and fled to Tortuga, where I met my actual woman but.. she was almost as annoying as my last one so I came back to Seaglory and I'm living alone since then, only sending her some letters from time to time.

We also want to tell you the hidden reason behind our newspaper name. And it is quite... explosive.
For those who might not know, some long years ago, there was a conspiracy known as the "Gunpowder Plot" which tells the story of a guy named Jack Not'Sparrow and some others who tried to blow the King' ship with 36 barrels of gunpowder, at Akrotiri.
They believed the king was stealing from their country, deceiving their citizens, so they tried to make justice with their own hands.
This was plot with 8 men, among them were the infamous:
- Jack Not'Sparrow; 
- Skyhawk; 
- John Watts; 
- ChiDraX;
- Adrious; 
- The3End;
- AyeCappy;Gladly, the plot was a failure due to a letter that reached the King' hands and alerted him about the danger. The ship was completely evacuated, the Royal Navy was called to protect the port and everything went well.
Only Jack Not'Sparrow was captured and hanged, all the other men ran away and hid themselves. Some people might say they still live among us, using black magic to keep them young and fed.
Now, we do celebrate that day here, lighting bonfires around Avonmora. We celebrate the king' victory against those who created the conspiracy. Some of the men have been known to wonder, in a tongue in cheek kind of way, whether they are celebrating Not'Sparrow execution or honoring his attempt to do away with the king.
