I believe I mentioned somewhere else that it is within our plans to create an in-game system where players will create articles/news on game events. Since this system will be delayed due to mechanism features that take precedence in developing time, I thought that we should start it in forums instead.
When we get the time, we will make it In-game instead.
How it will work ?
-We will use a special new forum thread which we will name it Game news (exact name will be decided on this topic). It will be like the Tavern thread. It will be considered in-game (a roleplay thread).
-We will assign "journalists" (not sure how they were called back in 17th century). The journalists can be any player with the desire to write. (See below how to apply if you are interested).
-Journalists will then create news/events in the thread based on their desires. They will have TOTAL freedom to write what they want (even lies!). All their posts must and will be considered strictly IC (in-character).
What it will contain ?
-It will contain game news; in-game, not development news. Common examples are battles, guild news, metrics, etc. However nothing like "new game feature" or "fixed x thing" or "new voodoo card"; these are announced by the dev team and are irrelevant with the Herald.
-Articles. Like how damaging piracy is, for the economy of England. Or the personal opinion of the journalist for something.
-Gossip. Like saying Black Sparrow has been caught naked in an alley, drinking rum and singing classical music. (Only gossip will contain referring to other players and can be false)
-Ads&propaganda. If you got a journalist friend, you can have him write how great your guild is in order to get more players or write how bad target guild is to weaken the bond among its members.
How to become a journalist:
-Futurely, this will be decided by the playerbase and some in-game requirements. As a start, I will be doing the initial selection. I am seeking up to 5 journalists. If you are interested to do the chore as described above, send me a PM. In your PM, include your character name and a few details about you.
What lefts to be decided?
The name! We need a name for the newspaper! The best name wins a place in the eternity of Pirates Glory.
