Gem Stones

What it is? Its pretty much a better version of gold bars that sells for more, but it has a rating system.

The better the gem stone is the more it sells for, and to make gems stones they can be building in the hideout that makes this. And the chance to get better gems stones are low, and the higher the level the building is, the higher the chance to get better gem stones. The buildings can be called Gem Mines. Having that bad quality gems are common and good ones are very rare.

The value of it ranges based on its purity:
Cracked
Translucent
Normal
Partially Flawless
Flawless

Some people will say this is meaningless if i leave it like this.
So,
Uses : For level upgrade on all hideout building at level 5,10,15,20
Possible Uses,
To make expensive ships like SOTL, LF and so on.

Also, Country can make the port it is controlling don't allow someone to sell them. If you do sell them, you will gain hostility towards that nation, same goes for buying.

Not sure if gems were used in making ships too often or how relevant they were in the pirate era unless it was for decoration on important treasures and noble's possessions...

They are used as decoration by the rich and Noble, they keep them as a symbol of money and power. And a lot of ports in the pirate era treated it as being illegal.

Not a bad idea. But honestly i don't think there would be space for it right now. Don't think admins plan to increase our profits at the moment. So for this to be viable it would have to be an alternative instead of something better.

But for sure for future times when we have too many gold sinks and we need a more income, this could be a new form of income. Would for sure be worried these getting stolen.

Idea+1
Timing-1

Maybe being a bit cynical, but a suggestion which will mean spending more wealth to no real purpose is far more likely to succeed than one which will create wealth.

Well with the hideout, mansion and the new expansion Academy this might be useful in a sense. If it is allowed to be researched in the academy it could be possibly made to:

A) Could be presented as a gift to the governors daughter increases her overall percentage by 25% per unit,1 unit is 10 of these gems.

B) Could be used to bribe officials when doing nation mission, probably 100 units could be used to skip a mission. Only 1 time per rank(Noble, Military etc) as to avoid manipulation.

Since we already have the Lazy Craftsmen card, if it is casted on you all gems created will be cracked or translucent. You can also be alowed to visit the governor to be blesssed by lady luck for 50k coins (depending on fame and/or national rank) which allows you to create better gemstones.

Side Note: Lady luck could reduce firing power of the NPC's in the missions.

I could see there being a gem mine. That's used to craft different types of figurehead that go on ships that boost the morals of crews. Like te 1ST ship in a fleet always had one. They could be used to boost battle performance or used as a merchant renowned status to boost selling and buying power. Say if you have 4 types of gems ea rarity lvl gives 2.5% bonus higher then the lower quality before it. It would take 250 gems to Make lowest quality and 1000 gemstone of highest quality to make best figurehead.

And also add a ship attachment option and ship attachment market to sell them.
