Fame formula seems better these days

Ahoy everyone,

It seems that following our fame formula update things already look better in the game. Fame already seems more important than before. I see players that I consider strong with good rates of fame which is a good thing.

I am not calling it perfect and imperfection also exists because fame is also a Liquidatable asset. I personally prefer it this way.

I know I have read some disagreements with the top ones coming from this topic (Infamy). I have yet to reply there but I will in short time. Meanwhile, this topic can act as a topic that can focus on the fame formula idea and ideas to improve. Perhaps we can get more discussions going on like we did with Infamy (even if it has not been born by this discussion but through a player initiative).

Discussion will help us understand you better which in turn will help us develop the game in a better way for all.

I'd still like to see some form of modifier for fame loss/gain in a battle for relative ship sizes/types : example : I capped 2 sotls using a sow fleet and gained a few thousand fame : lost a return fire on the lit-up fleet to a sotl fleet versus my sows and lost about 700k fame : as it is fame dont matter to me that much, but it still seems laughable that the one of the above actions that's notable gains little fame, the other action which is no great surprise at all loses hundreds of thousands of it.

I do not see it as a necessity but I cannot turn the idea down. At one hand, there are counter actions to this (ie running strong fleets only) and possible issues (running only weak fleets while on high fame and keeping war fleet docked) but at another it makes sense. We will keep this open.

So, you are saying - That, pirates either run massive fleets ; Then they have something else to loose? Or, just not fight at all? Old unfair to pirates again I see ;)

Aside from the fact Fame is a liquidable asset, Danik's observation is valid in my opinion.

Noteworthy achievements are not considered in the fame formula and in my definition, that is the barest essence of Fame.

These noteworthy achievements come in many guises with ship battle being just one.
That said, it is the one that really blows the credibility factor of fame as Danik's example points out.

Maybe battles should not be included and fame could be calculated without that battle input. It is the real glaring discrepancy that I notice.
All said, the new formula of fame calculation is a closer representation than the previous formula and a little more realistic. Thumbs up for a step in the right direction.
