More battles

Ahoy everyone,

We believe that we need to see more battles in Pirates Glory. Current game mechanics are good but random battles are rare. We have been thinking of how to increase warfare for a very long time now. Here is a more solid proposal that beats all the previous ones:

ASSAULT POINTS
-This is a new game concept.
Base generation of assault points is 1 per 24 hours. Maximum stack of 1. (BETA Value: This will change later according to how feature works)

We will add ways to increase both values so players will be able to specialize on this (ie, Technologies, Player items or skills, etc). This will happen in the future though (most probably once we install Academy and later again with IC extension).

Usability of Assault Points
-Players will be able to use 1 point to attack 1 fleet.

Targetting Restrictions
-Players will be able to attack any player that is within 30% of their fame range (up or down). ((BETA Value)
-Players will be able to attack fleets visible on the gossip page (of any port).
-The fleet chosen must still be on travel from current port (obviously).
-Normal danger penalties will be given.
-A fleet that has been attacked through Gossip Page, may not be targetted again for 48 hours with the same way. (BETA Value)
This restriction will be affected (duration of protection) through player status (ie at nation/guild war) or skills. (I am giving extension ideas for later here).
-The trade route will not pause when a fleet is attacked this way.

Special Reward rules
-Not available for players with less than 1000 turns (BETA Value)
-Lower gold reward: Instead of +1%~+5% of total gold, stable 0.5% (or even lower, ie 0.5% - at 0.5%, for a player with 10millions at hand, the extra cost is 50k + 6250 for a large merchantman = 62.5k loss) (BETA Value)
-Lower fame loss/win: new formula relative to fleet strength, relative to player fame comparison, will be announced later. (BETA Value)

Expected results
-Attack points may seem few, but in fact, in large scale, we are hoping that it will result in a lot of warfare - players will now be able to find targets any time of the day. In the same time they will expose their fleets to normal warfare.
-This will soon create the necessity to give guilds the ability to scrpt their NAPs and ALLIANCES to avoid random hitting of each other members. For a short period of time, you will have to deal on your own on this as we will not prioritize this. This will happen alongside with Guild Treaties.
-Guilds role will be upgraded as cooperation posibilities will rise to new heights.

Ship Specialization
Ship Specialization will offer a lot more diversity to this feature with skills that will allow a fast fleet to evade the attack of a slower fleet. Or lower ransom paid to such attacks (and more).

When?
-If you like the idea, we can implement it right away. It will not take more than 3 days.
-We could beta implement it with 1 point per player per day.

Feel free to suggest tweaks.

We WANT your feedback!

I forgot to add that we will need special engaging rules for rewards when battles take place in this way.

Added them in first post.

Does this mean Hostile Native and Fugitive cards will not be needed? If so, a cheap raiding fleet could earn quite a tidy sum each day. Newbies will love this!

Check special rules (I added them a bit later). Max earning should be much less than 250k unless the defending player has mountains of gold in his deposit.

I have chosen no, even though my vote does not really matter, as people will probably say yes anyway. This would ruin some parts of the game.

Will any fleets attacked stop as per now and will they lose levels if over 200 fleets as per now. In principle I agree to let new players have a more active role in the game.

The sink chance is also an issue. The only real counterpart is to tweak fame in order to play a more leading role in these cases. For example, we could really limit it by making the range +-25%.

The fleet trade route should stop imo.

The base idea is more than fine. But as it seems, in order to make it marginally accepted, we will need to adopt more special rules for this kind of battles. We are open to ideas.

Those that vote no, please say why. What exactly bothers you. A general no, is unhelpful.

What bothers me is, how a player with 20 million gold coins on hand most times a guild of 50 members could come along and attack/pick on that member, leaving him with a few million gold coins. Also, to attack a fleet that has no danger rating, would not make trading safe anymore, for example before a raid ~ They could attack you 90 times within a day, that would bring your gold level down, which could force some people to leave due to they keep on being attacked. A solution in my eyes is make it more rare ( One a day ) per player, as soon as the tax comes in which at the moment i think is 00:01:03...
