I love the idea of having a pirate mission that rewards said pirate with the choice of naming his flagship.

We seem to also agree on the battle perks and speed bonus. I would prefer the ship be granted the speed class of "Very Fast" however, rather than a fleet travel bonus.

Increasing the speed of this ship only will make the fleet move faster only if all other ships in the fleet are cutters. It will have a marginal combat effect, perhaps, but nothing more.

It will have a noticable combat effect : being classed as 'very fast' will aid avoidance of fire and also increase its own accuracy rate : it would make a designated frigate a bit of a handful, particularily if buffed by techs and proper stacking.

Still, it would only matter in otherwise equal battles. Almost all battles are rather uneven.

This is inaccurate.. play around with ship speeds, stacking, and fleet comp a bit more. Speed has a much larger effect than I believe you realize.

I get a kick out of those who throw Fav Winds on opponents ships to get them into port faster not realizing they just upped the opponent fleets fighting ability.

Lots of unique and different takes on a Pirate Flagship design and what different individuals think it should include.

Not to bait and of course at your convenience CJ but I would love to hear any of your thoughts around this ship. If nothing else to give a solid direction or bearing to continue the discussion :).

Are you sure Favorable Winds helps the fighting ability? I think it just adds a multiplier to the fleet speed instead of the ship's speed.

I don't think favorable winds makes all the ships go over 10 sails or hammocks.

Through my tests I found fav winds has no effect on ship combat. It affects fleet travel speed only from what I have gathered. Ship speed class however has a large effect on combat results.

I was thinking. Because the ship battles are designed over the ship attribute's variables.

Pretty sure the code works out so it disregards the ships speed, and just adds a percentage to the initial speed of a fleet in total.

I don't think Favorable winds effects the ship's attributes. Only a case where a ship could become more powerful is if the attributes became larger.
