Was considering that newer players will often farm NPC's to build up their coin, a bonus gem or two trading into GB will also get their stocks growing in that area too.

When the "Which Hut" is implemented to make legendary voodoo cards, perhaps gems should be required to make such cards? That way, they would be prized depending on how many are available, and how valuable the legendary voodoo is. Also, they would be destroyed in the process of making the legendary voodoo, so they would always be scarse. This is also a nice way to limit the number of "legendary" voodoo cards in circulation.

Agreed on both, good ideas both.
NPC farming should reward gems.
Gems should be required both in legendary cards recipes and legendary cards forging.

Should they be traded among players? We need to make a new market if so, a market that will unify existing ones perhaps. Or simply put a link at the market page in similar fashion with ships&voodoo ones.
Or we could put them in player-run stores. Not sure if we should sell them as well. A few extra usages if possible would help us determine these details.

I'd be in favor of no PVP trading of gems : otherwise those with funds will just buy them up : I agree with Haron, legendary cards have to be kept scarce and difficult to produce.

Keep it to a simple gems for coin 'in-game' process for those who dont want to keep them, those who want them will have to hunt them down.

Who defines this gem for coins price though? I see some good prospect out of it. We can again have players trading them just like credits. This way credits - gc and gems are all blended together.

If not, there needs to be a trading option as you need to give an option to the people that do not want them to gain something out of them. The only way to go round of this is to allow more uses for it. If their sole purpose is for legendary cards, then you need a trading option.

As far as game financing is concerned we are not looking to profit from gems. We could however offer gems for free at the first purchase of every player perhaps. This could be enough to persuade more players to use the buy option once. For those that already purchased, we will keep it fair and offer it to their next purchase.

No PVP trading... they should be tradable for coin and/or gold bars in ports : the player can sell them, but not buy them. if they want them they will have to go hunt them in NPC fleets.

I am in favor of allowing PvP trading of gems. As always, I advocate for a "stock market" system, where one can place sell and buy orders. Whether or not a stock market system is implemented, gems can easily be sold on the same market as voodoo cards.

I do NOT favor PvP trade of legendary voodoo cards, though. You choose which recipies you want to get, and those are the only legendary voodoo cards you'll ever own. Choose wisely.

So, in practical terms, the 'gems' would be a special voodoo card?

On the market, yes. But it can't be cast, of course. Its only use is to make legendary voodoo (and research recipies, perhaps).

The legendary cards will be like any other card; they will enter the market. Let's keep the topic around gems though, not the cards. That's one of the uses of gems after all.

A stock market for gems could work.

We need more possible uses as it is now.
