How many pockets have you raided?

To be frank, I don't see you do it much.

You saying raiding pockets means no trouble. What happened when you raided Ziggfried's? You lost 1bil+ in influence and nevertheless a port.

And does a real pirate carry SoTLs like you do? I sure have never heard of it. You are a privateer more than a pirate. I still wait to see a privateer who doesn't have to build a solid stack of money for walls in order to keep afloat.

I've been around for several years mate, you only see what I want you to.

Psaral Day 1550 - McGowens cap fleet

Hannes Day 1557 - Psychodad gc raid

I didn't raid zig I skirmished once and he got his panties twisted and cast on me. I didn't lose a port i gave it away.

How do you get on with such poor informants?

HN's away!!!

Now back on topic..

A few suggestions have been made that are quite viable..

1. CJ's suggestion around a cooldown before disposing or hiding a prize.

I have stated my points and find this to "help" solve the problem at hand in several ways.

2. Malachi's Suggestion on giving trade boosts based on merchants attacking pirates.

This would encourage several merchants to partake more in the battle aspect and in so doing expose stronger ships. However most pirates do not fleet larger vessels so forcing them to use their Sotl's or MoW's may not be solved by this unless further explored and developed.

3. Valar's Suggestion on purchasing insurance.

Very interesting idea and would be another "helpful" mechanic to put merchants at ease when sailing expensive ships. Purchase a voodoo card usable for a duration (cooldown afterwards before another may be used) Allows a percentage of the ships value to be refunded to the owner should their ship be stolen... less risk some recovery.. why not sail more sotl's.

4. Harons Enhanced Supply and Demand

Another great way to solve the usefulness problem associated with large ships. A great way to bring about more of them on the water. This mechanic would take more time to implement and work out the bugs therefore something to consider in conjunction with another more easily implemented feature that should be focused on first.

1. I would add an exclusion for ships or fleets listed in bounties. Those could be immediately sold or hidden.

2. My suggestion would get more fleet o fighting and expose large ships and purses on plunder boards. Pirates would have to fleet larger vessels themselves. An arms race?

3. Valar's suggestion would be wonderful for merchants and pirates alike if said arms race took place and also help them protect their prizes for a period before cooldown expired.

4. I need to follow up on this.

I know this has been suggested before...

What about a new tech (no clue on a name) that adds a chance of Leviathan to fail when cast only on SoLT and MoW. This would make using them more safe from a retaliation attack, but could still be plundered/stolen.

At lvl 20 it would provide a 70% chance to ward off a Levi on MoW and a 60% chance on a SoLT.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

Even better yet, ship specialization is coming out. Captain Dungeness already suggested his list and Levi protection based on points was given to Sotl's and MoW's why not just make that their ship specialization for the upcoming feature?

That said, I don't think pirates should enjoy such a benefit. It should be specific to flying a national Flag. Pirates will already have their Flagship and merchants need some way of getting back at us.

This has resulted in a very good discussion that has been insightful for us.

I will keep this as the earning of our discussion and send it to General Discussion.

Brainstorm: Instead of the initial idea, which is once stolen they have to wait a certain amount of time.

They replace it with Bombarding the pirate... So that if there is a fleet guarding set by the nation - They can not sell the ships they just stolen depending on what ship is bombarding them...

http://www.piratesglory.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3045&p=40958#p40958

As then, nations can set up players fleets to stop pirates selling remember the link this follows is a brief outline, this could be a add on and add some real strategy to the game. :y
