Newbie Player/Open Recruitment

Postby Donald Trump » Tue Dec 20, 2016 6:02 pm

I have realized that there is a considerable amount of time lost by new players picking nations with no one in them.

So here is my idea.

New Player Tutorial Reformation

Newbies are put to a screen to apply for a guild

And the guilds are put into categories that the guilds can apply to themselves.

1. Merchant only

2. Training Guild

3. Pirate only

4. Privateer only

5. Everyone

And there can be multitudes of tags ie: Training/Merchant guild or Training/Pirate guild.

Open Recruitment

This is optional for guilds! They can choose if they want this functioned enabled or not!

There is open recruitment, then the new players can just press apply and auto join those guilds.

Too many times I have seen players quit, because they applied to join and for 15 minutes no one got to them.

Blacklists

Guilds can blacklist who can NOT use their open recruitment. And instead players on the Blacklist will have to go through Mandatory recruitment process where it has to be accepted by a high-ranking player in the guild.

I'm undecided about the open recruitment, but the first part of this suggestion sounds like a very good idea!

How can a guild blacklist a new player? They wont know the player is there until they have joined : the problem with those a guild may wish to blacklist is that they are generally multi-accounters, serially or otherwise, and take some identifying. As for existing players, well, how does one compile a blacklist of those already in the game they may not wish as members? All the members of any guild they may have issues with? I dont think this idea will fly, its a bit of a spies charter and all it would do is force guilds to create a quarantine zone within for new members until they have established some credentials... the problem just gets moved inside the doors.

You don't get what I meant from blacklist. I meant to blacklist others from abusing it or trying to spy on your guild, regardless of how old or new they are.

So I don't want (person) to join my guild through the auto-recruitment. And this (person) is not a newbie, but instead I know this someone is trying to spy or harm my guild. The auto-recruitment does not apply to him, instead it goes to manual.

The idea was to combat older players from joining other guilds and quickly spying on them to gain information than leave. It is not meant to apply to newer players.

Personally, If there isn't an option for a guild to NOT auto-recruit, I oppose the entire scheme. The alternative is that auto-recruits will simply be booted straight back out of the door : I doubt that will help matters.

Why so? Many games have open recruitment as an option for guilds/clans.

If a new player wants to join the game and quickly enter a guild. Boom, there they go in. And training can start.

Sorry, in reading your original post, there is just the statement 'There is open recruitment' : nothing about a guild being able to opt out, just their choice to black-list certain players. IF there is an opt-out, my objections are met, I dont think the idea is that great and has various pitfalls, but as it wont affect my guild, it wont matter.

Bump. I don't see faults in this. I still think it is deserving of implementation.

Especially, "Open Recruitment" would greatly help training guilds. And boost the player base. Newbies would get into help guilds much quicker and receive the vital resources and knowledge to carry on.
