-We made it that ineligible fleets do not get an attack link in Gossip page any longer.
-We increased the limit to 30 minutes. The reasons behind of this limit are pretty weak anyway. It mostly exists to keep things tidy and reasonable although a limit of 50 minutes might be more appropriate. There are however some near future features where this limit will play a cleaner role.

Thanks Capt Jack,

For Traders the time limit is an important factor, as the exposure of fleets via the port pages is critical, one does not like to present too many opportunities thus the change from 20 mins to 30 minutes is an issue that means traders will find it harder to reduce fleet exposure.

I realise 5 hits a day is little in the grand scheme of things though. However as a trader I believe skirmish points serve me no benefit at all, if I use them I am exposed to larger losses through the danger system.

Skirmish only benefits pirates , as pirates did not really have many bonuses as traders did...
Civilian:Are you insane? One pirate against trained pirates... Who do you think this man is? God?
My Leader: No. God would have mercy. He won't.

I realised that as it is fairly obvious, however my comment was in reference to the change of exposure time for traders fleets, this make a difference, to the crucial matter of timing to reduce the risk. I have no issue with the risk but obviously want to reduce that as much as possible.

If it was truly only a feature for Pirates, then it would only be allowed to be used by, those flying the Black Flag. It however is not restricted to pirates thus it is not a truly pirate only feature but available to any player who chooses to use the feature regardless of Flag.

You are wrong.

Maximum loss for a trader that does not use Gold Bars is 150.000 gold coins. Hardly the end of anyone.

To score that loss you need to run pure Trade Galleon fleets that trade on a Tools port. Since Trade Galleons manage about 10 such trips daily, you will need to have 3 or more such fleets to record the maximum loss. Assuming that all 5 skirmishes you receive are successful.

So, the maximum loss of 150K will not be a normal scenario but in fact, a scenario that will be rarely produced.

A normal scenario will be maximum losses of about 75K per day. Less than the profit that a single LMM fleet can make daily if tuned good or less than 2 LMM fleets can make if not tuned at all.

No need for big letters...you have certainly made your intentions to run merchants off very clear. I recognized that when I experienced my first loss of 30,000 gc, plus the fame and let's not forget the levels lost on ships that have to be rebuilt. I know the name of the game is Pirates Glory, but perhaps it should be changed to "Pirates Harvest from Merchants Who Have No Recourse" you could change the logo to crossed screws.

I wish I hadn't invested so much real money into this game at this point. Regardless, don't take it personally, I'm sure you're doing the best you can.

How 30K is a big loss? A single 5xLMM fleet can generate easily 45K per day (Some pull a lot more).
How much fame have you lost exactly? Daughters can generate up to 250k a day.
How many levels have you lost? If you are losing levels, then you already have more than enough ships to cover these expenses.

So, no big letters used this time but again you are wrong. There are no intentions to run off merchants either.

Don't take it personally, really. In the end it's just a game, and apparently one I'm not suited for. My impression at this point is that the game is skewed in favor of pirates. I don't like pirates in games or real life. They prey upon honest folk and that alone is hard to take, but when the Illuminati give them an unfair advantage, it's too much to bear. I had hoped that I could operate by remaining ethical in my in game dealings (for those who may read this and not have a foundation in ethical behavior which is probably the rule and not the exception please PM me if interested, I'll hold my breath waiting for those PM's) but obviously, that is not the case. It's your game and you can have the people you want to play happy and the rest of us can just go away. I wish you all the best.

I am hoping to increase my GC earnings with russian roulette style trade fleets and a pick of lit raider fleets to choose from. Finding fleets that are worth the danger gained is my biggest challenge. Clues are tough to discover I am finding out.

@Psycodad
First of all, I am not taking it personally. My apologies if I sounded like this. I am commenting on the Skirmish. I said above to everyone that I will keep replying. On a side note, on new features launch, I prefer to be direct to players on what it is wrong, in order to give a clear picture of what the feature is about. It is understandable that the feature is so new, that most will be unaware of even its basic expectations.

I want to inform you that the Skirmish feature is a collaborate work, a feature that has been created alongside with the playerbase in the past four months. It all started from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1352&p=14429#p14429
Perhaps you could read the first post at least, to see which the original objective was. The discussion there, brought the suggestion in a preliminary form and then, 4 months later, we have implemented the Skirmish feature, a name suggested by players. I think that this is a good proof that this is everyone's game.

So,let me now speak to everyone again while responding to the rest of the issues put.

My life as a Pirate - True story
Regarding Pirates. Piracy in Pirates Glory is a hard task. I am speaking from first hand.
I created a test character. A secret one. Now, when I create a character -in any game-, before I create him, I make a picture of him. I create a background story for him. I spend time to design him. By the time I am done, I know who the character is and what he wants. The character has his own will which is certainly different than mine. This is called roleplay.

So, this character I created, was born in the United States. When he was young, he set sail as a landrubber on a merchant ship which has fallen into the hands of Pirates. As he was young, he was taken by the Pirates as a crew member. With years he earned a place among the crew and especially the Captain of the Ship, who had him like the son he never had. Piracy became a way of life for him as he has never seen anything else. At some point, the Captain died and the crew named him as their new Captain. He took the wheel in pride and brought his ship in Tortuga. This is where the story of my character in the game begun.

Obviously, this guy was a Pirate so he started doing what he knew. Plundering.
I had huge fun AND success with this character which I kept for about 1 week.
By the end of the week, I had all the popularity I could have asked for (if there is one thing you get as a Pirate, then this is popularity/recognition - not sure how to express it,perhaps in one word: Fame). Numerous interactions with multiple other players. Invitations to join from all major guilds. A good war fleet. Money in the banks. Although I have not got any credits, I earned quite a lot of them by utilizing presents through the market. In this way I managed to get the voodoo I needed at that point (mostly for NPC farming) and I kept enough credits so I can keep buying turns (again, for NPC farming).

I also got something I wanted to avoid. I got a few merchant ships. My crafty pirate, ended up that in order to advance faster in the domination of Avonmora that he so much wanted, a small trading fleet was necessary. So he also started the creation of trading fleets.

The week passed and the character has been abandoned to his fate (or destiny) as I could not attend him anymore. He still sails and I exchange a word or two with him, from time to time. The Pirate experience helped us in multiple dimensions and through this experience we have kept some points that the players who choose a Pirate life need. Skirmish discussion was prior to this experience, for the record but surely the experience helped.

What is important
So, what is important for us, is to provide the tools to those that want to follow a path. Skirmish is one of the tools that a Pirate needs, for a lot of different reasons.

Roleplay
We should not forget roleplay. Most players here roleplay a character. Just because they steal your gold in-game, this does not make them evil. This makes their character evil, perhaps, but surely not the player. It's a game, a roleplaying game.

Strategy
Whenever a new strategy appears, it does not declare all former strategies null and void. A new strategy however will almost certainly need configurations, new strategies to win it. With skirmish, a lot of new strategies come to the game. Do not let Avonmora Herald terrify you. There are ways to turn Skirmish into a win-win situation. Remember, you all get the same arsenal.

One interesting point raised by psychodad is levels loss. I am not sure if level loss for Skirmish should be the same with Plunder loss. We will deactivate it for now (for skirmish only) till we can have an answer to this.
