No anger from this quarter at all, the game is called Pirates Glory and in reality those that choose the pirate way of life have had little in the way of incentive to play Pirate. This gives them an incentive.

Traders have always been targets, this is nothing new only prior to this feature traders did not have to adapt. This will not end trade at all, what it will do is encourage the lazy traders to think more closely about fleets to get the profits. It is no good crying because you only trade tools and have all your fleets arrive in huge groups. Diversify, to a trader profits are profits, yes they might not be as large but they should outweigh the small daily skirmish losses.

Personally I trade in the main and scavenge, skirmish points wont help me as Danik has already pointed out, using them would subject me to larger losses through the danger points, but what I can and will be doing is changing how I trade. Rethinking routes, timings and fleet set up to try and reduce the losses it may not work but its better than doing nothing and then complaining about it. Having followed the implementation and discussions of this feature, this is what the developers were trying to encourage with this feature I believe.

I have to admit that I find the skirmish feature an interesting development. I have adapted to it and am really not that concerned with it. However, my admirals have informed me that they too have access to port gossip and that could allow them to evade more effectively. So, perhaps allow a player to use skirmish points to up their evasion. Something like +5% per skirmish point spent. A smart merchant knows the gossip and rumors of where likely ambushes await. Just my humble opinion.

I have had three skimish attacks against me so far, two where evaded and the third gave me 31000 odd gold coins in plunder. So I am recomending you read the art of war by Sun Tzu , which gives the advice 'only fight those battles you can win'
I don't know, it seems to me if they ain't got you one way they got you another,
So what's the answer? that's what I keep asking myself, what's it all about?
Know what l mean?

It's not a big deal for me but how does a single cutter carry away the loot aboard 5 howkers or, better yet, 5 LMM? In my mind skirmish is about boarding ships and taking their cargo. Just wondering, that's all.

I have been trying this skimish thing for myself, I saw that a player on the gossip page was on my list of player targets for a nation mission so I attacked, I was expecting to gain ten ranks towards my next loyalty point, but they have not appeared. I did suffer a connectivity issue as I tried to repair any damage, so I tried again, this time I noticed that the message said he had no cargo so I looted nothing, but still no ranks. Is this a clause I have missed? I admit I often only skim read longer posts. I tried again on a different fleet of the same player but the result was the same. Can anyone shed any light on this? Do I actually have to steal some cargo to gain the ranks? Or do skirmish attacks never count towards nation missions?

If you are trying to reason this, you will first have to reason why the ships lost in battle are not looted too. In a "true" battle, you would either loot the ship (and its cargo) or you would lose the ship to the sea(and its cargo). It works a bit differently here, as this is a game after all (I know, shocking news, I forget it myself too often) and we need to have fun at the very end. If everyone was losing his ship at every battle he lost, there would not be much fun around. Just because we exclude this, it does not mean that the winner should further suffer from such troubles, like how he will manage to bring the loot home.
