Empty treasure hunt chests

Why am I getting a lot of empty chests when treasure hunting?

I've read the treasure hunt guide. region knowledge is over 95%, player and port max are in the low millions, npc max in the high 100,000's. Is there something I should be increasing to get more treasure, or are empty chests just something you get a lot of and I just need try more often or to spend more turns digging to get deeper?

you need more turns, especially for player chests. The basic rule is you need to invest twice as many turns as the treasure is buried with to get it. So if I for example had 5 Million buried in Aiora with 500 turns, you would need 1000 turns or more to get my chest.

First sentence with small font has link change region you click that and switch region. Each port is split in 9 regions

its best to look for npc only at first it will get harder and harder to find npc though, it is much harder to find player treasure than npc at first

try to keep your player chances at very low % if you select the right options it is possible to search for npc mainly

That's only valid for treasures below 2k turns.

Right forgot to mention that part, If you invest more then 2K turns then you can find any treasure that has less turns then what you invested. So if someone buried a treasure with 2000 turns, you would only need 2001 to find it. But honestly unless you have turns to spare, its better to use them different things.
