What does Avenge ability do?

So on cards, there is Avenge ability.
What does it actually do?
Not really been catching up on updates/Game Updates so, asking it.

It varies card to card. On blacklist, it can extend the max time. On taxation I believe it increases the tax multiplier. Things like that

If target player have active voodoo on you, you sir is fu*ked, nah jk, the voodoo gets better.

Roberts, let's take our little voodoo conflict for example.
You cast more than 2 voodoo on me, and I used a Confuse. Since it has Avenge 2, the effect was doubled to 60%.

So certain card it increases chances?
Thats why my serenity was not getting through, I thought I was just unlucky
