Warehouse Deficiency

I have all of my trade fleets, which consist of 5 ships, running port to port, selling at both of them and never storing in a warehouse.

Problem: My total profit is falling quickly because of either:
1) Something that I'm not understanding
2) A change in the prices/way warehouses work
3) A bug in the game

I looked at my fleet profit yesterday and saw that my warehouses were in the red 28k. I didn't think much of this- just some minor mess up with buying gold bars or something... Then I check when I get home from work today, and lo and behold, it's sunk ever further to 250k in the red. Not sure if I'm actually losing money from this or it just says I am without actually penalizing my treasury fund, but I'd like to get it fixed or at least have some clearance.

(*Not going into specifics on ports for all of you mercenaries  )

When you are starting out, do not buy gold bars and then transport them to another port to resell. One: if you are plundered you stand to loss your shirt. Two: no need to expose yourself early in the game to that kind of risk. keep your shorts around your waist for now.

Regarding turning a profit. All port runs should turn a profit just some are more profitable than others. Trade routes will run a loss if you are buying in one port and storing those goods in another port for use with say a Potato Party card in the future.

The Daily Trade profit Report has a column for Trading-which is buying at one port and selling at another. It has a second column for your warehouses. If your Warehouse trade report is reporting a Red #, then somewhere you have a trade route that is setup to buy in one port and store the goods in another port. Check all your fleets to see how their trade routes are setup. Worst case scenerio, Terminate your trade routes and reset them, just make sure you do not set a trade route with "store goods in warehouse" for any fleet. Unless of course that is your objective.

I know all of that, Cracked. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me just in case I didn't though. My question is why with the number of fleets that I have (less than 50) running to these ports why I am losing so much. I wasn't even losing that much when I was completely new and storing things in warehouses so I could log on and sell them.

Check to fluctuating prices of your routes, the profits may vary. If you are losing money, you are either:
1) Not running a profitable route
2) Looking before the ships have actually completed the route (i.e. whenever they have bought but are not travelling not selling)
3) Storing resources in a warehouse and not realizing it

Also check that you are only making a profit on the return leg of a route.

Eg buy iron in tzogos for 10 and sell in Tortuga for 12 immediately then buying tools for 16 therefore a loss until you sell back in tzogos for 20
