How to fix events bar

Postby Roileon » Fri Nov 15, 2013 11:35 pm

If you are experiancing the problem of having events left on your events bar far after the time of the event, this is how to fix it.
Causes
-Receiving a large amount of attacks in a short amount of time
-Receiving a large amount of events without seeing them all.
-Not refreshing the page at the moment of such "event" occurring causing it to seem as it 100 events have happened at once.

How to Fix
1.Click on the events bar
2.Go back in your events by about x+1 amount of days depending on how long the event bar has been stuck.
-ex.It's been stuck for 4 days, go back into your events by 5 days
3.Leave events bar or press refresh

Why is this the Fix?
Because of the nature of the events bar if you get a new event the events bar will not go away until it recognizes you have seen that event. When you see the event, it is no longer recognized as a new event and thus the event bar goes away. What happens is, when you are blasted with tons of events, you often don't look at all the pages of the "new" events being reported to you. Because you don't look at all the events, the events bar does not go away. This is why you have to go back through all of the events before the events bar goes away.

What Proof Do I Have?
This has happened to me many times and I have "fixed" it many times. So my evidence is experience.

I hoped this helped! ;)

yes but if it happens in real time while you are online and are unable to access basic game functions, perhaps due to notification issues inherient in slower connection speeds, you effectively lose almost 30 million gold in ships that really should never have been at risk.

While your fix will I assume resume normal notification activities, I have lost two days of being hit without such notification.

The fact you have to post this thread shows there is a problem in the server code. That one player only uses this problem to his obvious advantage IS a balancing issue.

The net result though is people retain their strangle hold over the game and nothing progresses. The fact this issues is SO known and that people chimed in with a page and half of methods to achieve this, is a problem.

Even if it is real time that these events are happening the so called problem cannot be fixed. It's not a bug. It's just not looking at the new events or old events you haven't read.

I think the appropriate suggestion to make is a time delay between attacks. A delay of 5 seconds or so is required between attacks. This should mean that any "exploitation" of loop-holes is prevented.

Game Rule #2:
Bug exploitation
You must not take advantage of any bug found. You have to report bugs immediately to game administration/forums.

Sorry to be a stickler on all the rules and such but it's my job. If I let one person get by then what value do rules have? That is also a game rule so there's nothing I can really do about possible violations on game rules. You guys have to work that out.

Not on a help forum. This goes for both of you, continue the banter here and it's trolling the forums. Keep it in the Union of Honor.
